The Town of Matthews Fire and EMS Department
is a combination fire department consisting
of a paid chief, deputy
chief and seven firefighter/emt’s. The Paid
staff work Monday through Friday from
0600-1800 and are supplemented by
volunteer’s. Nights and weekends are covered
by volunteers exclusively. The department
ran over 3000 calls during the 2008 calendar
year. We are always looking for a few good
men and women to join the family. No
experience or training is required to join.
Members are eligible for up to $500 per
month in incentives, meal and tuition
reimbursement. All of your training (except
the North Carolina EMT course) is offered in
